How Hakawi Works
From a photo of tonight's homework to a quiz that guides instead of tells.
What happens in a Hakawi session
A student's session follows the same loop every time, using their own real Arabic material.
1. Snap the page
A parent or student photographs the textbook page due tomorrow, with no typing and no hunting for the right chapter. Hakawi also has a growing library of textbooks, so families can pick the book, grade, and page range instead of taking a photo.
2. Hear it, sentence by sentence
Hakawi reads the passage aloud line by line, with an English translation alongside. The student picks the speaking speed and voice. Vocabulary from the page is pulled out with its meaning, so nothing is left for a parent to translate on the spot.
3. Get quizzed, with hints and not answers
The quiz asks about what was just read. If the student answers wrong, Hakawi replies with a guiding question first and never simply hands the answer over. This is the core design choice: the point is for the student to work it out.
Does Hakawi just give the answers?
No. Hakawi asks before it tells. It paces itself to what the student already knows and walks them through the passage, rather than handing over a finished meaning to copy down.
What can parents see?
Parents get a dashboard with each child's streaks, XP, and a weekly breakdown of which topics are strong and which need more practice. A streak counts real work, such as moving forward through a lesson, not just opening one.
What subjects does it cover?
Any subject that is taught in Arabic. Hakawi isn't a fixed curriculum, so it teaches from the page in front of the student, whether that is math, science, Islamic studies, or a Qur'an or hadith passage. See who Hakawi is for.
What are Hakawi's limits?
Hakawi focuses on reading and understanding first, writing second. It does very little for spoken Arabic or pronunciation today. It is an AI, and like any AI it can make mistakes, so it is best used alongside a student's class and teacher, not in place of them.
How do I get access?
Hakawi is invite-only during early access. Request an invite and we'll reach out when there's room.
