Who this covers

Hakawi is an AI Arabic tutor for families. A parent creates the family account, and a parent creates each child's account. Children do not sign themselves up. This policy covers visitors to hakawitutor.com, parents, and children using the app.

What we collect

From visitors and invite requests: the email address, name, and message you enter on the Request an Invite form.

From parents: your email address and login, and your family's account and subscription status.

From children (entered by a parent): a display name, grade, gender, native language, and school language, plus a username and PIN, or an email login, to sign in.

From a child's use of the app:

• Photos of textbook pages uploaded for a lesson.
• Voice recordings, when a student speaks a word or sentence to practice.
• Chat messages between the student and the tutor.
• Quiz answers, scores, XP, streaks, badges, vocabulary progress, and session activity.

Technical data: basic usage and error logs from our hosting provider, and the cookies described below.

How we use it

We use this information to run lessons, generate translations and quizzes, show parents their child's progress, keep accounts secure, respond to invite requests and support emails, and improve Hakawi.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not show advertising.

Who processes it

We use these service providers to operate Hakawi. Each receives only what it needs for its job:

• Supabase: our database, sign-in, and private file storage. Lesson photos and voice recordings are kept in private storage.
• Vercel: hosting.
• Anthropic: the AI that reads lesson pages and writes explanations, quizzes, and tutor replies. Lesson photos and the text of a session are sent to it.
• Microsoft Azure Speech: turns speech into text, scores spoken pronunciation, and generates the tutor's voice.
• Resend: sends account and notification emails.
• ImprovMX: forwards mail sent to hello@hakawitutor.com to our team inbox.
• Google Analytics: measures visits to our public marketing pages only (see below).

Cookies and analytics

Signed-in use of Hakawi relies on essential sign-in cookies. We load Google Analytics only on the public marketing pages, such as the homepage and the invite form. It is not loaded for a signed-in parent or child.

Children

Because children use Hakawi, parents control their child's account and can see their progress on the parent dashboard. If you believe a child has provided information without a parent's involvement, email us and we will delete it.

Your choices

You can ask us to access, correct, or delete your family's information, or ask a question about this policy, by emailing hello@hakawitutor.com.

Changes

We will update this page, and its date, if our practices change.
